SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS – Caltrans was finally able to reopen southbound lanes of Hwy seventeen through the Santa Cruz Mountains Fri afternoon after instability and a brand new slide closed the busy traffic artery completely for much of the day.

At 10:07 in the morning CHP reported that the enormous landslide has closed traffic on Hwy seventeen between Summit Road in Los Gatos and Granite Creek Road in Scotts Valley. Drivers have been advised to use alternative routes.
